SPECTROCAN ported the existing hierarchical database used by Industry Canada to a relational Oracle 7 database in a client-server environment using SCO Unix for the server and Windows based applications for the client stations.

In 1998, SPECTROCAN provided expertise in designing and developing web-based applications for the Radio Communications and Broadcasting Regulatory Branch, Industry Canada. The web-based application facilitates the licensing and invoicing process for both Industry Canada employees and customers.

In 2001, SPECTROCAN was awarded the CANCOORD project. The new CANCOORD provided a software solution system for the Automated Operations, Space and International Regulatory Activities for Industry Canada. CANCOORD is a bilingual automated spectrum management system that manages the outgoing coordination requests to several foreign and domestic agencies.

In 2004 SPECTROCAN, as part of a consortium, was awarded a contract for Industry Canada's Spectrum Informatics Review and Redesign project. This project is expected to span approximately five years. The objective of the SIRR project is redesigning Canada's world leading spectrum management software to take advantage of new technologies, and offer state-of-the-art functionality to the Canadian regulator. The project shall include such key components as e-government, engineering tools for new radio communications technologies, spectrum auctioning and three-dimensional visualization of information.
